Aconcagua Expedition 2023

Aconcagua Expedition 2023

On February 12, 2023 the long journey to the highest point of the American continent began. Aconcagua in Argentina. The highest point in earth outside the Himalayan mountains.

Two weeks I walked for hours among the peaks and hills in the Andes mountain range; camping, carrying gear, getting dusty and blistered on my feet. Many hours with pain in the legs, burned skin but with a smile on the face for so much adventure. 11 days later, I reached the summit.

On the summit day, after almost 12 hours of intense climbing and climbing, I achieved the main objective, reaching 6,962 meters and the second of the 7 summits in the world.

My feet were standing at the highest point in the southern hemisphere. But the day was not over yet, there was still the descent, a 5-hour journey and already without energy.

Walking through the clouds and with the sun setting behind me, the descent was very risky.

Capturing the Milky over the Andes

After tagging the summit, my second objective was to capture the milky way rising over the mountains in the andes. Astrophotogrpahy is already hard and doing this at minus cero degrees at high altitute is an incredible challenge but so rewarding.

After intense days of climbing, I was back at basecamp and ready to capture the galaxy under the dark skies of the majestic Andes.
